Today we celebrated Joel’s birthday. His actual birthday was yesterday. Joel told us he turned 9 but he really turned 7. After we sang, everyone ate chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing and sprinkles.

We were supposed to go on our trip to the Van Saun Park Zoo but it got rained out. The teachers checked the weather at the zoo first thing this morning and discovered that thunderstorms were expected. Ms. Stern told us that she was going to try to make the morning special even though we couldn’t go on our trip. Instead of going to the zoo, Ms. Stern brought the zoo to us. We watched a video of the Magic School Bus taking a trip to the city zoo. She also surprised us by getting us some pizza to eat while watching the video. It was great. Ms. Stern also told us about another surprise. She told us that every day in June was going to have a special activity. Some of the examples that she told us about were a bubble blowing contest (with chewing gum), Field Day, and Twin/Triplet Day. Ms. Stern will send home more information by the end of the week.

Today we had art. We are working on weaving yarn. We practiced going under, over, under, over. Then we practiced going over, under, over, under. We are going to be making a small patch.

During lunch, Nicole lost her second tooth. It fell out while after she ate an ice pop!

This afternoon, we voted on our next Charlie Caps party. The class has earned 46 marbles so far and has 4 left before we have our actual party. First, we had a tie between a movie and popcorn and a baking party. We voted again with only those two choices and the baking party won!
